A is for All Together Day

Last week during eighth grade Common Time, teachers Shirley and Emma posed this query to the students:

How can we use lunch time to build community and connection in the middle school?

The students brainstormed what Emma labelled the “Genius Plans,” and yesterday they put the first “All Together Day” lunch into our program.IMG_1053.JPG

Students were randomly assigned to sit with an equal number of classmates from each grade. The eighth graders read the names of younger students and then walked to lunch and ate with them.

All Together Day will fall on A day in our eight day rotation– using different ideas from the eighth grade, as well as their leadership, to build community and connection amongst the students.
